Tuesday June 16, 2020 – Anxiety gripped State House yesterday after four staffers tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus.
The four tested positive for Covid-19 after the Thursday, June 11 mass testing exerciseconducted on all State House staffers.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife, Margaret Kenyatta, were also subjected to the tests but luckily, they turned out negative.
The four infected officers have since been isolated and contact tracing had commenced.
“The infected officers were admitted at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital in Kiambu County for treatment,” read the statement from State House.
After the virus found its way into State House, President Uhuru Kenyatta has closed off State House’s gates with those already inside the residence not allowed to leave while those outside the facility denied access.
The executive wing of the house that hosts key officers including the State House Comptroller and the Spokesperson has been placed under partial lockdown and remains out of bounds for majority of State House employees.
