Wednesday, 24 June 2020 – Dramatic scenes were witnessed in Ruiru after angry youths confronted rogue police officers who had gone to collect bribes from bar owners.
According to reports, the cops collect Ksh 200 every day from bar owners in the area, to allow them run their businesses without interference.
The Government has ordered all bars closed to curtail the spread of coronavirus but some bar owners are colluding with police to continue with their business.
The cops were cornered by angry youths while going to collect bribes.
The youths vowed that no alcohol will be sold in the town and despite the cops threatening to arrest them for causing disturbance, the youths continued to cause mayhem, forcing the cops to run away.
