Thursday June 4, 2020 – The ongoing purge within Jubilee Party and the continued silence of Deputy President William Ruto has left his supporters wondering if they made the right choice in supporting him.
Former Sports CS, Rashid Echesa, lashed out at Ruto yesterday and questioned his silence after the sacking of Mumias East MP, Benjamin Washiali, as Majority Whip in the National Assembly by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.
“I am sure if Ruto had pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mr. Washiali would have survived the axe,” stated Echesa.
“There has been talk about COTU boss Francis Atwoli and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya pushing for the changes, but I never saw them at State House.”
“The person I saw was Deputy President William Ruto and unfortunately, he didn’t raise a finger on the fate of Washiali,” he added.
“Ruto is a general, and we have been fighting for him.”
“I can’t understand how a general can abandon his troops and remain silent when they are being purged the way we have seen in the Jubilee Party,” he wondered.
The former CS, who is facing criminal charges related to the fake Sh40 billion scandal, noted that he is considering his support for the DP.
