Saturday May 23, 2020 – Former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman, David Murathe, has said President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Jubilee Party MPs who were planning to impeach Deputy President William Ruto to drop the motion and wait for the 2022 presidential elections.

Kieni MP, Kanini Kega, was among MPs who were planning to table a motion in Parliament to impeach DP Ruto over what they termed as gross misconduct.

But according to Murathe, Uhuru summoned the likes of Kega and urged them to drop the motion because it will give Ruto sympathy votes and Mt Kenya region will not be happy with his Government.

“Kenyatta is patient, compassionate, and upholds friendships.”

“That’s why he won’t impeach Ruto.”

“He has numerously warned Ruto from attacking him and roaming the country politicking and painting the President as a failure,” Murathe said.

However, Murathe said Ruto will not get the Jubilee Party ticket in 2022.

“Kenyatta is ready to part with Ruto ahead of 2022 and allow him to pursue his own agenda.”

“Kenyatta will let him go with two more scenarios.”

“If Ruto decides to quit or if he is entangled in corruption, which will force Kenyatta to go after him,” he said.

Murathe, who is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, also hinted at another Kikuyu vying for Presidency in 2022 using the Jubilee Party ticket.
