Wednesday May 27, 2020 – Deputy President William Ruto has not been invited for Madaraka Day celebrations to be held in State House on June 1st, 2020, a senior confidante of the DP has revealed.
As per the tradition, the President, who is the Chief Guest during the function, is supposed to invite his deputy because they were elected together in the 2017 presidential elections.
But due to the ongoing political rivalry, the President has refused to invite the DP to State House and instead has invited political rejects in NASA and aging politicians to celebrate Madaraka.
Among those invited are ODM Party leader, Raila Odinga, Wiper Democratic Movement party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya party leader, Moses Wetangula, and Central Organisation of Trade Union Secretary General, Francis Atwoli.
Others are KANU chairman, Gideon Moi, and some members of the private sectors.
The 57th national celebrations will be streamed through all local media houses and through online platforms.
Interior PS Karanja Kibicho said on Tuesday that the Government decided to hold the function at State House to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
