Friday, May 29, 2020 – Over the last 3 months, around 58 Kenyans have died of Coronavirus – a dangerous infection which originated in Wuhan, China.
Though the Government has been saying that all those who have died have other underlying illnesses, a doctor who is in the frontline in the battle against COVID19 said most of those who have died were not put on ventilators as required medically.
The doctor says the country has less than 1,000 ventilators and most of those ventilators have been taken by high profile patients from South Sudan and Burundi who are seeking medical treatment in Kenyan hospitals.
“Yes, Kenya’s Government is ignoring Kenyans and giving other nationals preference in COVID 19 treatment,” the doctor said and requested anonymity.
On Thursday, Burundi’s First Lady, Denise Nkurunziza, was airlifted to Kenya after she turned positive for COVID19.
Early this month, Burundi’s Health Minister was also hospitalised in Kenya after contracting Coronavirus.
