Saturday, May 23,2020 – Tharaka Nithi Senator, Prof Kithure Kindiki, has claimed that he was removed from the Deputy Speaker’s position by the Jubilee Party leadership for refusing to “commit treason ‘’
Kindiki, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto was removed by 54 Senators who supported his removal while 7 opposed it.
In his final speech after he was removed, Kindiki said that he retires to fate “in shame to note that we are here today for such an elitist triviality powered by petty, divisive and vindictive politics as the country hurts from the lethal combination of a nearly collapsed economy, a ravaging pandemic (COVID-19) and floods.”
And while he voted against the motion to remove himself from office “on behalf of the Tharaka Nithi people”, unsuccessfully so, Kithure left politically wounded.
“No one can hurt me without my permission,” he said in his final speech
President Uhuru Kenyatta is the man who engineered the removal of Kindiki for allegedly abandoning the Jubilee Government‘s agenda in the Senate.
Kindiki was also removed for engaging in premature campaigns of Deputy President William Ruto’s bid in 2022.
