Tuesday May 28, 2020 – Deputy President William Ruto has been dealt a major blow.
This is after one of his key allies in Western Kenya seemed to warm up to Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi.
On Thursday, Mudavadi met Kimilili MP, Didmus Barasa, and the two held a closed door meeting.
Later, Mudavadi‘s aide indicated that the MP may soon join ANC.
“This morning Kimilili MP, Didmus Baraza, paid me a visit.”
“We discussed among other things the unfolding political events in the country, matters of elementary democracy and lastly, strategic and visionary plans to revive the ailing economy,” Mudavadi told journalists.
Mudavadi’s meeting with Barasa who is a close ally of Ruto came a few days after he met Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Mandago.
While Musalia maintained that no coalition was on the table and that he was focusing on addressing effects of the coronavirus on the economy, it was the calibre of his guests that has raised eyebrows on the possibility of forming a coalition.
