Monday May 18, 2020 – Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted former Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, at State House.
The meeting came at a time the President is cleaning his Jubilee house by getting rid of Deputy President William Ruto’s allies as he seeks to partner with former Prime Minister and ODM leader Raila Odinga and KANU’s Gideon Moi.
According to sources, the Bomet Governor rejected an offer to be appointed Chief Administrative Secretary by Uhuru.
The vocal ex-chairman of the Council of Governors and the party leader of Chama Cha Mashinani declined the post arguing that it was only two years to the 2022 General Elections and it could complicate his political plans.
However, Rutto is said to have accepted that his party, Chama Cha Mashinani, will take a role in an expected Economic Recovery Council to Kenya’s steer post-Covid-19 strategy.
Rutto has taken a low profile since his defeat in the 2017 elections.
