Monday May 18, 2020 – National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Government to stop frustrating Keroche Breweries billionaires, Tabitha Karanja and Joseph Karanja
Over the last one year, Keroches have been in and out of court over a Sh 14 billion tax evasion case.
But Raila who was speaking on Saturday during the burial of Tecra Muigai, urged Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to stop frustrating local investors with this common excuse that they are evading tax.
Raila said that he will stand with the Keroche family during this time when they had lost a daughter and were in court with KRA over Sh14 billion disputed tax.
“The Government should support local investors who have used billions to construct such companies and KRA should not use its muscle to oppress investors,” he said.
Raila likened the loss of Tecra to that of his son, Fidel, five years ago, terming this as the most difficult moment for the Keroche family.
Senators James Orengo and Moses Wetangula, MPs Jane Kihara, Moses Kuria, Nairobi Woman Rep, Esther Passaris, and Narc-Kenya leader, Martha Karua, attended the burial.
