Saturday, May 16, 2020 – A 22-year old man is on the run after he hacked his father to death and dumped his body in a tea farm in Bombere Kiabora village in Egetonto, Nyamira County.
According to the area Assistant Chief, Jones Kea, the son of George Nyandika had been at loggerheads with his father, Isaac Mogaka, over land and property ownership.
“Residents of the said area were shocked when George Nyandika, aged 22 years, set upon his 55-year-old father Isaac Mogaka Manyuru with a panga yesterday at around 9.00 in the morning after a brief quarrel in their tea farm on what neighbours said to be a land and property ownership disagreement,” Mr. Kea said.
The Assistant Chief said a village elder called him informing him of the shocking incident.
“When I responded to a distress call from my village elder at Bombere Kiabora village I immediately informed the Sub County OCS who also visited the scene and we found the lifeless body of Isaac Mogaka in his tea plantation with deep cuts on his head, neck, and right hand,” added Mr. Kea.
Police recovered the panga believed to have been used by the suspect to commit the crime.
The body of the deceased was taken to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital while police are still pursuing the suspect who is still at large.
