Monday May 25, 2020 – A section of Kalenjin community elders have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to appear before the council and explain to them why he has fallen out with his deputy, William Ruto.
Speaking on Sunday, the elder’s chairman, James Lukwo, said it was only fair for the President to tell them what happened between him and Ruto in order for them to make an informed decision on what to do.
Lukwo asked Uhuru visit the Rift Valley region and hold a meeting with them to specifically explain the genesis of his differences with his deputy and if he must break their political marriage, then he does it in their presence.
“Ruto has been pushed up to the wall and there is no single day we have been told what happened between him and Uhuru, we have not heard Ruto himself speaking against Uhuru,” said Lukwo.
The elders said it was not right for the duo’s political marriage to end arbitrary without any clear explanation given that the region had overwhelmingly supported Uhuru twice in his presidential bid.
