Tuesday May 26, 2020 – Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri, has claimed that 54 Senators who voted for the oust of Tharaka Nithi Senator, Prof Kithure Kindiki as Deputy Senate Speaker were bribed with Sh 100,000 each by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking on Sunday, Ichungwa said that Senators were ordered to vote using the acclamation method where everyone’s vote was public so that the funds could be accounted for clearly.
Ngunjiri further said that Senators allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader, Raila Odinga, were promised a further Sh 200,000 on completing the job.
“We have eyes and ears on the ground.”
“What happened in the Senate is unconstitutional.”
“The lawmakers who call themselves members of the Upper House were bribed with Sh 100,000 each with a promise of another Sh 200,000 if they voted out William Ruto’s allies from Senate leadership,” Ngunjiri said unapologetically.
Kindiki is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.
