Tuesday, May 26, 2020 – Murang’a Women Representative, Sabina Chege, has come to the rescue of more than 100 commercial sex workers who are struggling to put food on their tables due to the dusk to dawn curfew put in place to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The legislator donated foodstuff to the ladies of the night enough to last them one week.

Taking to Facebook, Ms. Chege said that sex workers reached out to her for assistance.

The Women Rep also revealed that she’s looking for a long term solution to ensure the commercial sex workers can fend for themselves and eventually quit selling their bodies.

“We have agreed with them that I will find a long-lasting solution that will be putting food on their table with a promise of quitting that business.

“They did agree to engage in businesses such as hairdressing, dressmaking and baking.

“I have, at the same time, encouraged them to form a group to benefit with Affirmative Action Fund through my office,” she wrote.

President Uhuru Kenyatta hinted on Saturday, May 23rd that he may relax the curfew and the cessation of movement in several Counties soon.

The President declared that the curfew and the lockdown cannot continue forever and that he will soon issue a decree of easing measures to prevent the economy from collapsing.
