Wednesday, May 13, 2020 – Sixteen family members have been quarantined in Bomet after a dead kin tested positive for the deadly Covid19.
The deceased, who hails from Kagawet Village, Itembe Location, was also battling diabetes.
He becomes both the first confirmed case and death due to Covid19 in Bomet County.
According to reports, the deceased had travelled from Nairobi on the same date of admission in the facility despite the cessation of movement order issued by President Uhuru.
Samples taken to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) Kisumu almost a week later, and released yesterday, turned out positive of Covid19.
His body had been lying at Longisa Hospital mortuary.
However, one of the relatives, who escorted the patient to hospital, is yet to be traced.
By Tuesday, May 12th, the Coronavirus death toll in Kenya stood at 36 after three people succumbed to the deadly virus in Mombasa.
The number of confirmed cases also increased by 15 to 715 and 259 recoveries.
