Wednesday May 13, 2020 – Former Bomet Governor, Isaac Rutto, has spoken about his alleged meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday morning.
In a statement to journalists, Rutto, who is also the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader, dismissed claims that he was picked by helicopter from his Tumoi home in Bomet County for a meeting with the Head of State.
Ruto said that indeed a helicopter arrived at his home to pick his wife who is working in the essential service sector.
He, however, accompanied his wife to Nairobi in the same chopper.
“The travel by helicopter was not unusual as it is a matter of public record that I have once in a while been using the same means of transport to various destinations.”
“Finally, I wish to set the record straight that my travel to Nairobi had nothing to do with the political realignments in the country as is being speculated on the social media,” he said.
There were rumours that the former Governor had been invited to State House to be offered a post of Cabinet Secretary.
