Wednesday May 13, 2020 – The United States Government issued a health alert to its citizens living in Tanzania on Wednesday warning them to avoid going to the country’s national hospitals over a rise in Coronavirus cases.
According to the US Embassy in Tanzania, many hospitals in Dar es Salaam have been overwhelmed in recent weeks by limited hospital capacity which has resulted in life-threatening delays for medical care, including for those with Covid19.
“The Tanzanian government has not released any data on Covid-19 in Tanzania since April 29, so there is no current data on the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Tanzania,” the Embassy wrote in a statement on Wednesday.
This follows concerns of the surging numbers of daily infections reported in the country with the latest death numbers spiking to nearly 1,000 over the last two weeks.
Here is the distribution of deaths in Tanzania according to sources.
