Wednesday, May 20, 2020 – Men account for 68% of the total number of persons infected with Covid19 according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
This numbers have caused fear among men as it appears thatmore men than women are contracting the disease in Kenya.
Health Director General, Patrick Amoth, during his #AskTheDG session on Wednesday addressed this scenario and allayed fears among men.
While answering a question from a twitter user, Dr Amoth said:
“The targeted mass testing has mainly been focused on male-dominated sectors e.g. truck drivers.”
“This may point to the numbers of more male cases,”
On Tuesday, Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, announced 51 new cases of Covid19 infections in the country, out of which 32 were male and 19 female.
The number of confirmed Covid19 positive cases in Kenya has crossed the 1,000 mark after 66 new infections were announced on Wednesday bringing the total number of infections to 1,029.
