
Sunday, May 17, 2020 – Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a member of a notorious criminal gang involved in a series of violent robberies within Kisii, Nyamira and Homa Bay counties.
Charles Mochama Omwoyo, 55, was nabbed in his hideout in Kapsita in Molo-Nakuru County.
Detectives also recovered a simcard used to receive funds from their targeted victims.
Forensic analysis on the Safaricom line which on the 29th of April, 2020 received Ksh. 35,000 violently robbed from a male victim led the investigating team to Kapsita in Molo-Nakuru County where the suspect was nabbed.
According to DCI, the gang is linked to violent robberies as follows;
Masaba robbery on 3rd March 2020, Nyamira robbery on 28th March 2020, Kisii robbery on 3rd April involving a wholesaler, Marani robbery on 10th April 2020, and Kitutu robbery on 13th April, 2020.
Investigations are ongoing in pursuit of other gang members.
