Thursday May 14, 2020 – Kirinyaga Governor, Ann Mumbi Waiguru, has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for taking a bold step to kick out Senators Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika from their leadership positions in the Senate.
Speaking at Kamuthanga village, Kariti Ward, in Ndia Constituency, Waiguru noted that Murkomen and Kihika had outlived their usefulness in the Senate and Uhuru’s move to oust them was timely and commendable.
She said the changes were long overdue because Murkomen who was serving as Majority Leader and Kihika as the Chief Whip were sabotaging Uhuru’s programs.
Waiguru also noted that the two were opposed to Uhuru’s handshake pact with Opposition leader Raila Odinga which was meant to unite the country.
“I support the President move to bring far-reaching changes in the Senate, we need leaders who are loyal to the President so that they can be able to push government agenda,” she said.
The outspoken Kirinyaga leader threw her weight behind the post-election coalition agreement between Jubilee Party and KANU saying the pact will strengthen the ruling outfit’s numerical numbers in both the Senate and National Assembly.
“We need leadership which will carry our version in the Senate more changes are coming and I’ll like Kenyans to support it,” Waiguru stated.
