Wednesday May 27, 2020 – Deputy President William Ruto has been dealt a major blow after all Kirinyaga County MPs pledged their allegiance to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kirinyaga County has four constituencies namely Mwea, Gichugu, Ndia and Kirinyaga Central.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, George Kariuki (Ndia), Kabinga Wachira (Mwea), Robert Gichimu (Gichugu) and John Munene (Kirinyaga Central) vowed to follow President Uhuru Kenyatta instead of Ruto.

“We will follow the direction which President Uhuru Kenyatta will tell us to follow.”

“We apologise to Jubilee Party for associating ourselves with Tanga Tanga politics,” the MPs said in a joint statement.

This is a big blow to Ruto because he was hoping that the County which has many professionals in the Mt Kenya region will support his presidential bid in 2022.

Sources said Muranga and Nyeri MPs have also been summoned by President to explain why they support Ruto’s bid in 2022.
