Monday May 11, 2020 – Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga, has suffered a huge blow after the High Court temporarily stopped the removal of Narok Senator, Ledama Ole Kina, from the position of Chairperson of the County Public Accounts and Investments Committee.
On Friday last week, Raila Odinga through the Senate Minority Leader, James Orengo, wrote to the Speaker of the Senate, Ken Lusaka, and notified him of the removal of Ledama Ole Kina from being the chairman of the CPAIC.
But Ole Kina through his lawyer, Nelson Havi, went to court and protested the move.
In a ruling issued by Justice Weldon Korir, the Court barred the speaker from removing Ole Kina from the powerful position.
The Judge further certified as urgent the case filed by the Senator challenging the decision to remove him from the position.
The matter will be mentioned on May 14th for further direction on hearing of the application.
The judge also directed Ole Kina’s lawyers to serve the petition to the respondents.
This is a big blow to Raila Odinga who wants to replace Ole Kina with someone friendly to him so that he can continue receiving kickbacks from corrupt ODM Governors.
