Thursday, May 14, 2020 – A 55 year old man who succumbed to COVID-19 in Bomet County was buried at night by public health officials in hazmat suits.

The deceased, who has been identified as Erick Kosgei, was buried at Kagawet village, Chepalungu Constituency, in a ceremony that only lasted a few minutes on Wednesday night.

This is both the first case and first death due to Covid19 in Bomet County.

The late had been battling diabetes and only tested positive for the deadly coronavirus after he died.

Meanwhile, 16 relatives of the late Kosgei are being held in quarantine at Kaplong Girls High School in Sotik Sub-county.

Likewise, all the doctors and nurses that attended to him at Longisa Hospital have also been quarantined.

Last month, the Government was condemned for a hurried burial of a man who was suspected to have succumbed to COVID19 in Siaya County.

The man who was a KPA staff was buried in the dead of the night without a coffin.
