Wednesday, May 6, 2020 – Kenya has announced a record number of new confirmed Covid19 cases for the second day running.
This is after the Ministry of Health confirmed on Wednesday that 47 more people had tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 581.
32 of the new infections were all in Mombasa County while 11 were all in Nairobi.
Busia, Kiambu and Kwale had two and one case each respectively.
The CS also revealed that two people succumbed to the deadly virus in Mombasa at home bringing the death toll to 26.
The two are both males aged 67 and 68 years.
On the bright side, eight more had recovered and discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 190.
To curb the spread of the Covid19 in areas that have emerged as hotspots, the Government announced that there will be no movement of persons and vehicles into and out of Eastleigh area in Nairobi and Mombasa’s Old Town from 7PM Wednesday for the next 15 days.
All markets and eateries in Eastleigh and Old Town will remain shut for the entire period.
