Wednesday, May 20, 2020 – The number of confirmed Covid19 positive cases in Kenya has crossed the 1,000 mark after 66 new infections were announced bringing the number of infections to 1,029.
Speaking during the daily briefing from Afya House on Wednesday evening, Health CS Mutahi Kagwesaid that 64 of the people who tested positive were Kenyans while the other two are foreign nationals.
Mombasa remains the hardest hit County in Kenya with 30 out of the 66 cases recorded there.
On the same vein, the CS announced that the National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus has extended the cessation of movement in and out of Eastleigh and Old Town Mombasa, to help curb the spread of the virus.
“In order to contain further spread of the virus, there shall be an extension of the cessation of movement in and out of Eastleigh and Old Town Mombasa until 6th June 2020.”
“In addition to that, the malls, eateries, restaurants are supposed to remain closed and hawking prohibited until Saturday, June 6, 2020,” announced Kagwe.
