Sunday, May 17, 2020 – ODM leader, Raila Odinga, was among politicians who attended the burial of Tecra Wangari Muigai, the last born daughter of Keroche Breweries proprietors, Tabitha (CEO) and Joseph Karanja (Chairman)
The private ceremony was held in Karai, Naivasha, on Saturday.
The former Prime Minister compared thedeath of Tecra to that of his son, Fidel Odinga, five years ago terming this as the most difficult moment for him and the family.
“It’s very painful for a parent to lose a child and I take this opportunity to condole with the family as this very painful and difficult times,” he said.
He went on to crack the mourners stating that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) had not stopped but was on half time and would resume once the COVID19 pandemic was tamed.
“Reggae has not stopped as some people want to believe and we shall definitely hit the ground running after we manage to contain this pandemic,” Raila said drawing laughter.
Tecra died on May 2nd, 2020, after what the Keroche Breweries board described as a ‘tragic accident’
She was living with her boyfriend, Omar Lali, in a private residence in Lamu where she fell down a staircase and injured herself.
She succumbed to her injures while receiving treatment in Nairobi Hospital.
Despite autopsy results showing that Tecra died of injuries she sustained after falling down the stairs, her wealthy parents want her boyfriend, who is still in police custody charged with murder.
Tecra’s family insists that she was pushed, while the lawyer and pathologist representing Omar insisted that the fall was accidental.
