Monday, May 11, 2020 – The number of coronavirus patients in Kenya has risen to 700 after 28 people tested positive over the last 24 hours after testing 841 samples.
Speaking during the daily brief, Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Dr.Rashid Aman, also noted that the number of affectedCcounties has increased.
The positive cases are spread out in Mombasa (10), Kajiado (9), Nairobi (7), and Wajir (2).
All the nine cases in Kajiado were detected from truck drivers who had traveled from Tanzania.
“We have noted in concern that the number of Covid19 cases coming from our borders is growing.”
“We will take measures very soon” he said.
In Nairobi, the cases were recorded in Kenyatta National Hospital (3), Embakasi (2), Kibra (1) and Pumwani (1).
At the same time, the death toll has gone up to 33 after one more patient succumbed to infections triggered by the respiratory disease.
The patient is said to be 33 years old, becoming the first person to succumb to Covid 19 below 39 years in Kenya.
On the bright side, 12 people had been discharged from hospital bringing the total number of recoveries to 251.
“On a positive note, we have discharged 12 people from the hospital today.”
“We thank our healthcare workers for this. We have also lost one patient in Nairobi,” he said
