Wednesday May 6, 2020 – The Government of President Uhuru Kenyatta has begun the process of repossessing properties owned by former Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu
Waititu, who was impeached this year over corruption related cases, is facing a Sh 535 million corruption case in court and is out on a Sh 15 million bail.
On Wednesday, the Government through the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) repossessed two Toyota Land cruisers V8s, a Mercedez Benz, Two Prado J150, Range Rover, a tractor, Tippers, a dozen of petroleum tankers and a number of trailers, all owned by Waititu and his wife, Susan.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has ruled that anyone who can’t explain their sources of wealth will lose it.
The Court also ruled that the courts will no longer protect property acquired through corruption, and that for such property to be seized, one does not have to go through the criminal process.
