Monday, May 11, 2020 – Former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman, David Murathe, has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta will continue to punish leaders who will campaign for Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022.
The President is already preparing to crack the whip on Senate Majority Leader, Kipchumba Murkomen, and Senate Majority Chief Whip, Susan Kihika, for supporting Ruto’s quest in 2022.
But speaking on Sunday, Murathe, who is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta said National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, will be spared from the whip because he is loyal to the President.
“We do not care where Duale’s heart is politically, we agree that he has pushed effectively national government interests at the National Assembly, he has delivered on any assignment the President has given him in the House,” Murathe said.
“This should not be misconstrued as fighting the Deputy President, it’s a simple case of disciplining errant members of the party in the House leadership,” Murathe added.
In the new Jubilee Party lineup, Murkomen, who is a close ally of Ruto, will be replaced by KANU’s Samuel Poghisio while Kihika will be replaced by Muranga Senator, Irungu Kangata.
