Monday, May 11, 2020 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that 86 Kenyans are in various hospitals abroad over Covid19.
Out of the 86, four patients are in critical condition in Intensive Care Units (ICU).
The total number of Kenyans abroad infected with the deadly virus has also risen to 191.
Unfortunately, 23 Kenyans have succumbed to Covid19.
The majority of the deaths have been reported in the United States (10) followed by United Kingdom (6) Italy (2) while Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, South Africa, and France have each reported one death.
The families of the diseased have been instructed to bury or cremate their loved ones in the countries where they died.
On the bright side, 77 recoveries have been reported so far among the population of Kenyans living abroad.
About 3 million Kenyans live in the diaspora, with the majority located in North America (400,000), Middle East (150,000) Asia and Australia (30,000), Western Europe, and Southern Africa.
On Sunday, May 10, 165 Kenyans who were stranded in China arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport aboard a Kenya Airway mercy flight from Guangzhou.
