Thursday May 7, 2020 – Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua, has launched a multi-million office even as the country is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dubbed the “White House”, the magnificent office is said to have cost the County KSh 350 million and was constructed within nine months.
Sitting on a spacious piece of land in Masaku, the County office presents a sight to behold from afar, and one could easily mistake it for the President’s State House office in Nairobi.
Mutua is said to have drawn the inspiration to build the state-of-the-art office from the United States.
The architects of the vast structure reportedly modelled it on the American White House.
The office has two wings, the West Wing which will be hosting the Governor, his chief of staff and executive meeting lounges, and the East Wing which will house the Office of the First Lady, the governor’s advisers and other support staff.
Mutua’s White House also has an in-house conference facility that can hold up to 200 people and banquet rooms for entertaining high profile guests.
Sources say the office meets the standards of hosting the President as it has been fitted with all the necessary facilities.
