Monday May 11, 2020 – A close lieutenant of Deputy President William Ruto has lashed out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for trying to make changes in the Jubilee Party without consulting the Party’s National Governing Council.
On Wednesday last week, Uhuru signed a coalition agreement with KANU chairman, Gideon Moi, as he tries to strengthen the ruling coalition.
The signing of the pact now means that KANU has become the first party to formalise its agreement with Jubilee, shoring up President Kenyatta’s numbers in both Houses at a time of an increasingly public cold war between him and his deputy, William Ruto.
“The Post-Election Coalition shall be purely for purposes of addressing the parliamentary strength of the Jubilee Party in Parliament and / or in the County Assemblies,” the Jubilee Party Constitution states.
However, Kericho Senator, Aaron Cheruiyot, has termed the deal as a waste of time saying it an “experiment of drunkards”.
“Jubilee party Constitution on post-election coalitions. Anything else you read is an experiment of drunkards…,” Cheruiyot said.
